Every year during the holidays, Americans let go of their diets. There are many occasions and events that they attend during this period. Most of these events involve lots of food. The holiday season starts around Thanksgiving. It goes on until the New Year festivities. According to reliable estimates, Americans put on 8 lbs. each, on average, during this time of the year. This is hardly surprising. After all, this is when restrictions on eating are dropped, albeit temporarily. However, given that Americans are already facing an obesity epidemic, these 8 lbs. represent a big problem. They result in greater incidences of hypertension, cancer and diabetes. With the near year beginning, it’s time for people to make changes in the way they manage their lives.
